How should I store and serve my sake?

Most premium sake should be stored in a cool, dark place and consumed within 12 months of purchase for optimal taste. While some sake is traditionally served warm, many modern premium sakes, including our craft varieties, are best enjoyed chilled (around 45-55°F) to highlight their subtle flavors and aromatic qualities. Once opened, sake should be consumed within 2-4 weeks for the best experience.

What makes Colorado Sake Co's sake unique?

Our sake is crafted in small batches using pristine Rocky Mountain water, premium rice, and innovative brewing techniques that blend traditional Japanese methods with modern American craft brewing. Being one of the few sake breweries in the United States, we've developed unique flavor profiles that appeal to both sake enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Our location at altitude also influences the fermentation process, creating distinctive characteristics in our sake.

How does sake differ from other rice wines?

While often called "rice wine," sake is actually brewed more like beer. Our sake is crafted using premium rice that's polished to remove the outer layers, combined with pure Colorado mountain water, koji (a special type of mold), and our proprietary yeast strains. This traditional Japanese brewing process, called multiple parallel fermentation, creates complex flavors and aromas unique to sake.

How fresh is the sake I receive?

As a local craft producer, our sake goes directly from our brewery to our club members. Unlike imported sake that may spend months in transit, our members receive sake at its peak freshness. We carefully time our brewing schedule to ensure club shipments contain sake that's perfectly aged and ready to drink.
